Barbecue Beef Brisket Sandwiches

Monday, November 22nd, 2010

I needed a quick dinner tonight that I could hold indefinitely on the stove since I had no idea how long it would take Shaun to get home tonight. Seattle does not deal well, or really at all with snow. It's been dusting all day, with accumulations of ...

Tonkatsu, redux

Thursday, November 18th, 2010

Dinner tonight was some tonkatsu (Japanese breaded pork cutlets) with Bunashimeji, aka brown beech mushrooms, stir fried in a little sesame oil, and a little green salad. A nice balanced meal :-)

Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies

Monday, November 15th, 2010

Another fall tradition, I made pumpkin chocolate chip cookies this evening, as Shaun wanted some. We were talking about how the highs are only going to be a bit above freezing this weekend and that maybe we should make some chili or some homemade chicken noodles, and then the ...

Apple Pecan Bread

Sunday, November 14th, 2010

I used this recipe as a starting point for this very good apple bread. I did half granulated white sugar and half light brown sugar, used pecans instead of walnuts, and ended up needing a bit more oil and some water to bring the batter together. It turned ...

A couple restaurant reviews today from today's adventure outside the house :-P First, we tried out Bob's Burgers and Brew for lunch. They just opened a location on Everett Mall Way, and we were curious. There are a few other locations throughout Washington, mostly north. ...

Shrimp Scampi

Tuesday, November 9th, 2010

This was a great recipe, once again inspired by one courtesy of Central Market. Theirs used more butter and olive oil, and a bit less wine, but my version is healthier, and was very good. We'll be doing this again for sure! Simple sauteed zucchini and yellow ...
